The International House of Japan (IHJ) has been selected as a co-organizing partner for the Tokyo Modern Residential Architecture Activation Program, a new cultural engagement and public outreach project to promote and preserve modern residential architecture. The program is jointly implemented by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and Arts Council Tokyo（Tokyo Metropolitan Foundation for History and Culture）.

As a pioneer in promoting private-sector diplomacy and international cultural exchange, IHJ has long fostered initiatives in the visual arts, design, and architecture and continues to strengthen its activities in these fields.

This project aims to showcase the cultural value and appeal of historically significant homes in Tokyo through public programs and exhibitions, contributing to their preservation for future generations.

As part of this effort, IHJ will oversee the cultural engagement program for the House in Hanakoganei, an early landmark residence designed by architect Toyo Ito and completed in 1983, and present a series of public programs and exhibitions showcasing the building’s distinctive design and architectural significance.
