IHJ Cultural Lobby Interdisciplinary Talk #10: “AI and Buddhism: Where Do We Come From, and Where Are We Going?”

On November 6, the focus will be on “AI and Buddhism.” Featured speakers will be Yuma Kishi, a rising artist known for The Frankenstein Papers exhibition curated by the conversational AI model MaryGPT, and Shoukei Matsumoto, a Buddhist monk and philosopher whose work bridges traditional wisdom and contemporary business management. Matsumoto supports top executives in articulating their personal philosophies and building legacies for future generations with the aim of being remembered as “good ancestors.”

University of Tokyo professor Takashi Ikegami, who has been researching artificial life for over 20 years, and multimedia artist Sputniko! known for her works inspired by emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and the metaverse, will discuss the future of society, culture, and humanity. They will be joined by the Alter 3, autonomous android equipped with the Alife artificial life engine.
