Profile

Yuichi Yoshida is a LEAP Fellow at the International House of Japan and is currently based at the Asan Institute for Policy Studies in Seoul, Republic of Korea. He also serves as a Research Fellow at the Research Institute for Advanced Innovation and GeoStrategy(RAIS). He specializes in international security, with a focus on maritime security in the Indo-Pacific; U.S.–Japan–ROK security cooperation; the security implications of critical and emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI) and unmanned systems; and European and Russian security, with particular attention to energy security.

Prior to his current appointments, Yoshida was a Research Fellow at the Japan Institute of International Affairs(JIIA), where he conducted research on Indo-Pacific security and the implications of critical and emerging technologies for foreign and security policy. He also served in the Political Section of the Embassy of Japan in Bulgaria, covering the country’s foreign and security policy.

He holds an MSc in EU Politics from the European Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science(LSE)and a BA in Policy Management from Keio University.
