Q&A

1. What led to the decision to demolish the Annex?

Ownership of the Annex and most of the land on which it stands was transferred from I-House to Mori Building in 2005, and the decision to demolish the Annex was made at that time.

2. Why does the West Wing have to be demolished?

Most of the land on which the West Wing stands is within the scope of the area slated for redevelopment and, therefore, needs to be demolished. This was a difficult decision to make but was required to protect the I-House garden, trees, and landscape during the redevelopment negotiations.

3. What will happen to the parking lot?

Most of the parking lot has not been under I-House ownership since 2005. We bought back a portion of the land during redevelopment negotiations and will do what we can to secure parking space, but there will be room for a fewer number of cars.

4. The library is located in the West Wing. Will it be rebuilt in the new West Wing?

The library will move to a new location, but we plan to modernize it to enhance its information retrieval and public communication functions. Consideration is being made to provide space for research, reading, and co-working separately. Additionally, we are advancing a separate archiving project for the library’s collection.

5. What will happen to the restaurant and accommodation facilities?

The provision of restaurant and accommodation services will continue to be offered.

6. Will there be access to the park on the northwest side that is planned under the redevelopment project?

This is still under consideration.

7. What will be the total area of the buildings after renovation?

There will be no significant change in the total area.
