Profile
Between 2009 and 2022, Masashi Yui lived in Singapore, Thailand, and New Zealand, engaging in research in the fields of public administration, public policy, and political science. He earned a Master of Public Policy (MPP) from the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore, and later obtained a PhD in Public Policy from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
His expertise lies in public administration and public policy, with a particular focus on comparative studies of machinery of government changes, administrative reform, politician–bureaucrat relations, and remuneration systems for senior public officials. At the School of Government, Victoria University of Wellington, he taught undergraduate courses in public administration and public policy. He also served as a Senior Associate at the university’s Institute for Governance and Policy Studies, where he conducted independent research and contributed to government-commissioned projects.
In addition, he acted as a New Zealand advisor for a research project commissioned by Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, titled “Evaluating the Performance of Independent Administrative Agencies: A Comparative Study of the UK, Canada, and New Zealand.”
