Profile
Wakana Asano is an API Takano Fellow at the International Institute of Strategic Studies-Asia (IISS-Asia) in Singapore. Her work focuses on science and technology policy, economic development, and Global South-North cooperation.
Previously, she worked at IBM for five years, leading digital transformation and strategy development for clients across sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, and government. She also served as a data scientist and policy analyst intern with the Stimson Center's Southeast Asia Program, contributing to policy research in the Southeast Asia region. In addition, she worked as a research assistant at Georgetown University's McDonough School of Business, where she analyzed the correlation between U.S.-China trade patterns and U.S. presidential elections using quantitative methods.
Wakana holds an MS in Foreign Service from Georgetown University as a Fulbright scholar, and a BA from the University of Tsukuba.
